Hello and welcome to Authority Running. My name is India Lewis and my 1 goal for this site is to give you easy to understand and actionable running and training advice.

Authority Running was established in 2014 with the goal to provide easy to understand running and training advice that makes a real difference.

I was always frustrated with running sites that either provided tips that weren’t actionable or training advice that took a Ph.D. to understand and apply.

Authority Running is different.

I wanted to build a site that’s committed to making sure that ALL of our advice can be followed by regular folks without a background in sports science but could be applied to get real results.

My Story

I didn’t grow up a runner. At school, I regularly cut track practice to hide behind the English block to smoke cigarettes and gossip with my girlfriends.

It was at University that my weight really started to increase, just a few pounds at first but by the time I finished my degree, I was over 80lbs heavier than when I started!

I knew something had to change.

After trying every possible fitness class and diet under the sun and seeing very little movement on the scales, a friend suggested that I sign up for a 5k and start to follow a beginner’s run-walk training program.

With a few smart diet changes and cutting out the cigarettes, I saw my weight drop by almost 28lbs in just 12 weeks – all thanks to running.

Crossing the finish line and collecting my first 5K finishers medal was one of the proudest moments of my life and having my husband and kids there really made it a special moment.

From that day on I was instantly hooked, running just felt so empowering.

Eight years, 12 marathon finishes and a mountain of running shoes later and I so grateful to be able to be able to share my insights with so many people.

In the years since we started this website, our team of experts has grown and we’re well on our way to reaching our goal of helping 1,000,000 complete their first half marathon.

Combatting The Sedentary Lifestyle

One thing that we’re passionate about is combatting the sedentary lifestyle that many people now find themselves trapped in.

Given how much information is out there about running, we at Authority Running have set out some clear guidelines that we strive to abide by.

This is so we can provide you with a single place to get no-nonsense advice without all the confusion or need for a sports science degree.
